A NEW ALKALOID FROM FLOWERS OF ERYTHRINA STRICTA

The alkaloids present in the flowers of Erythrina stricta have been isolated and characterized by spectroscopic methods. A new alkaloid 11-acetyl erysotrine has been isolated and its structure established by spectral studies (UV, IR, 1H NMR and HRMS).

Megistolactone, a new alkaloid from Sarcomelicope megistophylla.

A new quinolone alkaloid, megistolactone (1) was isolated from the bark of Sarcomelicope megistophylla. Its structure has been elucidated on the basis of MS and NMR data. From a biogenetic point of view, this compound should be considered as an oxidation product of 1,2,3,4-tetra-O-subsituted acridone alkaloids, which are also present in the bark.

A new alkaloid from Fritillaria ussuriensis Maxim.

Pingbeimunone A (1), a new compound, together with the known ussuriedine (2), benzo[7,8]fluoreno[2,1-b]quinolizine cevane-3,6,16,20-tetrol (3), ebeiedinone (4), pingbeimine C (5) and verticine (6) were isolated from Fritillaria ussuriensis. The structure was elucidated on the basis of spectral analysis (IR, NMR and MS spectroscopy). In addition, their AChE inhibitory activities were also tested.

Antiprotozoal activity of Brazilian plant extracts from isoquinoline alkaloid-producing families.

Leishmaniasis and Chagas disease afflict the poorest countries in the world. The Brazilian flora represents a rich source for the screening of potential antiparasitic compounds. In this work, we tested the total alkaloid and ethanol extracts of nine different plants from Brazilian families which produce isoquinoline alkaloids, to determine their in vitro antiparasitic effect against L. chagasi ...
